At the onset of 2006, Term caught his big break when legendary producer DJ Premier blessed him with one of his signature, scratchladen beats. "Watch How It Go Down" instantly became an underground classic and Termanology appeared on hip-hop's international radar. The conscious hood anthem garnered the earnest MC tons of praise, landing him in The Source's "Unsigned Hype" and XXL's "Show and Prove" columns. Since then, he has quickly climbed the industry ranks with his "Hood Politics" mixtape series and continued collaborations with DJ Premier and other big name producers. Term's hard work resulted in a joint venture deal with Brooklyn-based label Nature Sounds, which he signed in late 2007.

The Reavers kind of came together like, (cliche's aside), Voltron. Seriously how did this many underground MCs get together and form a group of this size and caliber? Most likely you recognize a good amount of heads in Reavers. Some notable members include Killarmy family member Don Pachino, Monsta Island Czars (Spiega and Kong), and Vordul Mega of Cannibal Ox. Throw in people like Hasam Salaam, Karniege and Akir and you basically have a lot of real formidable dudes stepping up on various cuts throughout. Tracks like "America" showcase how all these different styles really become one on this album. "Beast" features the two Monsta Island Czars doing their thing. Definitely check the songs featured on the first single in "Slums" and "Dusted". A group of this magnitude pretty much demands a listen.

Life and Death have been placed before a world filled with chaos, flooded with spiritual pestilence. Yet a remnant chose life, and in choosing life a voice is given... a voice that refuses to be bottled in. A voice that not only erupts, but turns into action. Carried by love, it flows into the cities, deserts, dark alleys, every crack and crevice. It travels anywhere the light of Christ is needed. Its a voice that cries out for the hurt, the lost. Because of this voice they can’t help but respond, especially in a world where many heads became paralyzed, not able to step into the full potential of their gifts, blind guides, wounded soldiers who plead the 5th. Like dry bones, they thirst for God’s voice. So the remnant speaks because they have been spoken to. A voice that leads you face to face with Love, despite trends or traditions. When the seed is planted, penetrating roots need no permission. For this very reason, URBAN OPS "WONT DIE IN SILENCE!"

''Trouble Is'' tells the story of a vagrant farmer's hardship in a town where the locals call into question his intentions and work ethic. The video captures this tension with unmistakably rustin and southern imagery as the first scene opens with a fiery sermon delivered from the pulpit of a dusty Baptist church. The farmer, played by the emcee RA Scion, is aggressively pursued by a town mob, first driven out of town over distrust and distaste, then back again for the purpose of assimilation by force. The video takes a curious turn in the final scene, ultimately leaving the viewer in the position of the town-folk to question the farmer's motivation.

Killah Priest MySpace
Chief Kamachi MySpace

Longtime Wu-Tang affilate Killah Priest along with Army of The Pharaohs core member Chief Kamachi have teamed up to release a full length collabo album entitled "Beautiful Minds" on Good Hands Records. Both rappers are considered two of the top poetry writing MC's in the game, and by joining forces Priest and Kamachi plan to deliver an album that fans of lyricism will love. "Kamachi and I are alike in a lot of ways, and this album is going to turn a lot of heads," says Priest. Kamachi responds with "Working with Priest was like going to the studio with myself. It was second nature working with him. It all just came so naturally." The album features only one track with guest appearances, a rarity these days. West coast mainstays Planet Asia and DJ Rhettmatic lend a hand on the track "Illest". Production on "Beautiful Minds" is handled by Tekneek (Kurupt, Tha Dogg Pound), E. Dan (Reef The Lost Cauze, Kamachi, Wiz Khalifa), C Sik (Dilated Peoples, Strong Arm Steady), Dev Rocka, Diamond Legit, Emonex and more. After Killah Priest's recent success with albums "The Offering" and "Behind the Stained Glass" combined with the success of the latest Army of The Pharaohs album called "Ritual Of Battle" from 2007, which scanned well over 20k, this release is destined to be on every top ten independant Hip Hop list for 2008.

Florida might not be the first place you'd look for dope hip-hop. But don't underestimate Asamov, a four man crew out of Florida. Everyone does the DJ, producing, and MCing deal. An album that in a way dropped out of nowhere but is now receiving critical acclaim across the board. Led by an incredibly strong lead single in "Supa Dynamite" with Mr. Lif jumping on in vintage form. This album plays well all the way through and is without a doubt one of the more quality hip-hop releases to drop lately.

Hip Hop heads from every generation have all agreed on one thing: POSSE CUTS RULE! From “Live at the BBQ” to “Scenario,” the essence of the posse cut has left an indelible mark on the Hip Hop genre. Enter underground sword-swinger ESOTERIC (of 7L & Esoteric) who goes coast to coast and combines with virtually every other underground heavy-hitter in the country for the sake of the posse cut. JEDI MIND TRICKS, C-RAYZ WALZ, DEL and TAJAI of HIEROGLYPHICS, RASCO, DJ Z-TRIP, APATHY & CELPH TITLED of the DEMIGODZ, J-LIVE, PACEWON, BREEZLY BREWIN, REKS, J-TREDS, THE PRUNES, COUNT BASS D, and many more swoop in and handle business alongside ESOTERIC. Featuring plenty of unreleased material and a few rarities and remixes, this limited edition CD is a must have for any Hip Hop fan. A major bonus on this record is the never before released audio of the ARMY OF THE PHARAOHS’ ESOTERIC, VINNIE PAZ, and VIRTUOSO live on BAHAMADIA’S radio show in 1998, right around the recording of the classic first AOTP 12”.

Army of the Pharaohs (AOTP) was initially conceived by lead emcee Vinnie Paz of the independent powerhouse group Jedi Mind Tricks. His vision was a constantly-evolving, collaboration of epic proportions that would include MC's, producers and DJ's. AOTP's first incarnation included Bahamadia, Jedi Mind Tricks, Chief Kamachi, 7L & Esoteric and Virtuoso and resulted in the wildly successful 12" single, "Five Perfect Exertions." The response was beyond all expectations and fans worldwide have clamored for more material ever since. 2006 saw the long awaited debut The Torture Papers, which has scanned 20,000+ units to date. The supergroup's sophomore offering, Ritual of Battle, reunites the winning formula, once again featuring the legendary lineup of underground emcees/artists including Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks, Outerspace, Apathy, 7L & Esoteric, Celph Titled, Chief Kamachi, King Syze, Faez One as well as first time AOTP constituent (and renowned former Jedi Mind Tricks member) Jus Allah & many more. Of particular note (and to rabid core fan delight) is the inclusion of the first collaborative effort of original material between Jedi Mind Tricks' founding members Vinnie Paz & Jus Allah since 2000's Violent By Design. Ritual of Battle is released to heightened anticipation, shortly after Jedi Mind Tricks' return from a coveted slot on the entirety of the wildly popular Rock The Bells summer tour 2007.
